OATS, Inc. Celebrates St. Louis County Driver for 15 Years of Service
January 19, 2009
Birdie McBee considers herself a people person. In her 15 years of service driving for OATS, Inc. she has made many friends, both riders and co-workers, who would strongly agree.
Birdie began working for OATS, Inc. on January 3, 1994. Her daughter, who was an OATS
rider at the time, suggested that driving for OATS was a job Birdie would love, and love it she does. At the time, Birdie was driving a school bus, and upon her daughter’s suggestion, applied with OATS. Since being hired 15 years ago, she says she considers OATS her home, and has passed up other job offers because she is so happy with her position.
When asked what she likes most about driving for OATS Birdie says, “Working with all those people – I just love it to death. It’s just such a happy place.”
Birdie is married with two daughters, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Even in her spare time she enjoys helping people, and spends much of it helping two older lady friends by making trips to the grocery store for them or doing other things to help out.
Pam Knox, East Regional Director for OATS says, “Birdie is a really good driver and all of her clients just love her. They make special requests to have her.”
