OATS, Incorporated helps people all over Missouri get to work, doctor appointments, essential shopping, and other places people need to go. As a not-for-profit public transportation system, OATS buses traveled 15,418,331 miles in 2011 to provide service to 87 counties in the Show-Me State.
Founded in 1971 by a group of seniors who saw a need for transportation, especially in rural areas, OATS has grown to be one of the largest and most unique systems of its kind in the country. Besides seniors, OATS now serves a wide variety of clientele.
There are 36,659 people in Missouri who utilize the services of OATS. This year, 1,602,626 one-way trips were provided with a fleet of over 800 vehicles and a staff of around 730.
The mission of OATS, Inc. is to provide reliable transportation for transportation disadvantaged Missourians so they can live independently in their own communities.

Northwest Driver Celebrates 15 Years of Service with OATS, Inc.

Charles Yates celebrates his 15-year anniversary as a Northwest Driver for OATS, Inc. this month. It was his wife who suggested that he become an OATS driver for the Northwest region out of Harrison County. “It is a very good company to work for,” Yates says. “I like taking people where they need to go and helping others get around.”

The last Board of Directors meeting in 2011 for OATS, Inc. took place on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 in Columbia, Missouri. The progress made in 2011 will certainly lead to greater stability for OATS and continued transportation assistance for the passengers OATS serves. Among the year’s many highlights were OATS’ 40th Anniversary Celebration, the ribbon cutting ceremony at the new Northwest Regional facility in St. Joseph, the beginning of construction on a new Northeast Regional facility in Macon (anticipated completion date of June 2012) and the approval of $15,000 in state tax credits OATS received under the Neighborhood Assistance Program.
