Mel Sundermeyer, Mid-MO Region, Vice-President

Mel was Director of Multimodal Operations at the Missouri Department of Transportation until he retired in 2002. In this position, he was responsible for all modes of transportation other than highways, including oversight of funding and regulatory compliance for OATS. His appointment to the Board in 2007 to fill a seat vacated by the retirement of Nancy Butler was approved by the Cole County OATS Support Committee. He states his main reason for wanting to serve on the Board is “to support and improve the operations of OATS through its staff and volunteers.” His experience in the field of transit and state government will be a great asset to OATS.
