Jefferson County, MO June 10, 2026 – OATS Transit is announcing an important transition in its transportation services as the organization continues to adapt to changing community needs and focus on long-term sustainability.
Effective July 1, 2026, the JeffCo Express blue and green deviated-fixed routes will be discontinued. Those buses will switch to providing demand-response, door-to-door service. This change in service will allow us to serve more rural residents in Jefferson County.
“This decision follows extensive evaluation of service operations and availability, and the evolving transportation needs of Jefferson County residents”, said Pam Knox Mideast Regional Director. “We are shifting our focus toward broader general public transportation options designed to provide more flexibility throughout the county,” added Knox.
Rural Jefferson County residents wanting to schedule rides should call the OATS Transit office at 636-933-9380 at least 24 hours in advance of their ride. Hours of service will remain the same, Monday – Friday, 7am to 7pm. Our drivers will no longer be accepting payment from riders on the bus. Instead, when riders schedule their upcoming trips, they can add funds to their account to pay in advance of their ride. The funds are then deducted from their account each time they ride.
Riders with questions regarding transportation alternatives or available services are encouraged to call the OATS Transit office. “We are incredibly grateful for the riders, community partners, and supporters who have been part of JeffCo Express over the years," Knox added.
