(Columbia, Missouri, April 23, 2026) – OATS Transit, a Missouri-based not-for-profit transportation provider, is pleased to have received a $15,000 grant from Veterans United Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Veterans United Home Loans.
Thanks to this generous donation from Veterans United Foundation, OATS Transit is able to provide free rides to veterans in Mid-Missouri. These funds help remove transportation barriers across our communities. Their support makes it possible for individuals to access essential services, stay connected and maintain their independence without the burden of cost.
“Veterans United Foundation is proud to support OATS Transit in removing transportation barriers for veterans, ensuring they can access the care, resources, and community connections they’ve earned through their service” said Piper Brintnall, Foundation Coordinator.
OATS Transit provides service to the VA Hospital in Columbia, as well as VA Clinics in five neighboring cities. In addition to medical appointments, OATS Transit also provides rides to work, essential shopping, nutrition, and other needs for rural residents of any age. With a workforce of 530 employees, 19% of OATS Transit’s employees are also Veterans.
“We have many Mid-Missouri Veterans in 15 counties who will benefit from this grant from the Foundation” said Michael Burbank, Mid-Mo Regional Director. “Without their support, we would not be able to provide as many rides for veterans throughout the community,” added Burbank.
