(Columbia, Missouri, July 10, 2025) – OATS Transit, a Missouri based not-for-profit transportation provider, is pleased to announce it has received a $10,000 grant from the Boone Electric Community Trust. These funds will be used toward the purchase of a new vehicle for Boone County residents.

The Boone Electric Community Trust has been providing supportive grants to local nonprofit organizations and public entities since 1997. Over $4.5 million has been given back to the communities that Boone Electric serves. Kelly Sharp, Chair of the BEC Trust, stated “Boone Electric Community Trust is proud to support OATS Transit in delivering essential transportation services in Boone County. We are especially pleased that our funding helps leverage federal dollars to further benefit our local community.”

OATS Transit has been providing transportation since 1971 in the Boone County area. The company provides rides to those in need for medical appointments, essential shopping, employment and other community resources to rural residents of any age.

“The commitment of the Boone Electric Community Trust to give back to their community is very vital to agencies like ours,” said Michael Burbank, Regional Director.  “These funds allow us to continue serving Mid-Missouri residents, while also providing the crucial local match needed to purchase new vehicles,” added Burbank.
