OATS Transit received a $10,000 grant from Veterans United Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Veterans United Home Loans.

“OATS Transit’s mission to provide safe and reliable transportation addresses a distinct need for veterans and community members to live independently” said Erik Morse, Board President for the Veterans United Foundation. “We are committed to enhancing lives and working with organizations such as OATS Transit to help meet the basic needs of the communities we serve and those who have served our country.”

OATS Transit provides transportation to work, medical appointments, essential shopping, nutrition and other needs to individuals with disabilities, seniors, and rural residents of any age. With more than 650 employees statewide, OATS Transit’s workforce is 17% Veterans. As a service provider to hundreds of Veterans across the state these funds will be used to transport individuals to the VA Hospital in Columbia, as well as VA Clinics in 5 neighboring cities. Additionally, funds will be used to transport Veterans to the Entrepreneurship Boot Camp hosted by the University of Missouri in Columbia.

“We are grateful that companies like Veterans United are dedicated to giving back to the communities they serve,” said Dorothy Yeager, Executive Director of OATS Transit. “We are excited to be able to provide additional transportation service to Veterans thanks to this grant."
