(Springfield, Missouri, June 1, 2021) – OATS Transit, a Missouri based not-for-profit transportation provider, announced today that it has received a grant from White River Valley Electric Cooperative’s Trust Program, Operation Round Up, totaling $5,000.
“Concern for community is one of the seven cooperative principles, and WRVEC is proud to invest in services like OATS Transit that help our communities thrive” said Nathan Stearns, Community Programs Coordinator for White River Valley Electric Cooperative.
The funds from White River Valley will be used toward the local match on a new vehicle for Taney County MO. OATS Transit provides transportation for work, medical appointments, essential shopping, nutrition and other needs to individuals with disabilities, seniors, and rural residents of any age throughout Taney County. OATS Transit has proudly been serving Missourians since 1971.
“Thanks to organizations like White River Valley, we were able to continue providing transportation throughout the COVID pandemic,” said Dorothy Yeager, Executive Director of OATS Transit. “With the support from WRVEC, we are able to be there for thousands of people who rely on us to get to medical appointments and other community resources,” added Yeager.
